WT Drops Friday Matchup with No. 20 Sooners

WACO, Texas -- No. 20 Oklahoma posted a 4-0 win over Baylor women's tennis, on Friday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The loss puts Baylor at 16-10 overall and 7-5 in conference play headed into its final match of the regular season against No. 8 Texas. The Bears are now 9-2 at home during the 2024 season.
Doubles went down to the wire, with a 6-3 decision on court two the deciding point in Oklahoma's favor. Miska Kadleckova and Danielle Tuhten rose to 6-2 in conference play as doubles partners, taking care of the Sooners' Chloe Noel and Ava Catanzarite.
Singles remained tense throughout, but Oklahoma put three matches away in succession to clinch the match; No. 59 Florencia Urrutia defeated Sierra Berry, 6-3, 6-3, No. 104 Alina Shcherbinina defeated Liubov Kostenko 6-2, 6-3, and Emma Staker bested Danielle Tuhten 6-1, 6-2, to wrap it up.
The Bears will return to the Hurd on Sunday at 1 p.m. for their final match of the regular season against the No. 8 Texas Longhorns.
