SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Baylor Softball fell against Utah, 9-1, Wednesday night at Dumke Family Softball Stadium.
THE RUNDOWN
The Bears fell behind early in the bottom of the first after a two-out bases-loaded triple from the Utes made it a 3-0 game.
After recording two hits in the top of the first, the Bears added two more hits to their total in the second as they plated their only run of the game. Presleigh Pilon and Kaci West posted back-to-back singles in the top of the second before Ashlyn Wachtendorf reached on a fielder's choice that made it a 3-1 ballgame.
Utah tacked on a run in the bottom of the third before another three-spot in the bottom of the fourth extended the Utes lead to 7-1.
Sydney Collazos tried to get a rally going in the top of the fourth with a leadoff double but the only one more Bear would reach as BU stranded two more.
Utah threatened again in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bears were able to work a scoreless frame.
Baylor had runners on the corners in the top of the fifth but couldn't capitalize as Utah held the 7-1 lead.
The Utes were able to score two more in the bottom of the fifth as they walked off the game in a five-inning run-rule.

The Bears will now face BYU in Provo, Thursday, April 25 for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. CT, before the series finale against the Cougars scheduled for Friday, April 26 at 6 p.m. CT.
