No. 34 WT Rallies Past No. 45 SMU, 4-2

WACO, Texas -- No. 34 Baylor women's tennis defeated the No. 45-ranked SMU Mustangs for the second time this season on Tuesday night, 4-2 at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
The victory raises the Bears to 16-9 overall and 9-1 at home, while the Mustangs fall to 9-11. Baylor has two home matchups remaining, both against top-20 opponents in No. 20 Oklahoma and No. 8 Texas.
SMU came galloping quickly to a doubles victory, topping Baylor's duo of Liubov Kostenko and Isabella Harvison and No. 87-ranked pair Sierra Berry and Zuzanna Kubacha on courts two and one, respectively. Court three remained unfinished trending towards the Bears, 4-3.
Despite the loss in doubles, Baylor fought back in singles play; the Bears took the overall lead at 2-1 following a lopsided 6-2, 6-0 win by Kubacha on court five and a 7-5, 6-1 win by Kostenko on court two. SMU responded with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Berry on court four to retie the match at two-apiece.
The Mustang's point couldn't slow Baylor's momentum, though, as Miska Kadleckova followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win on the top court to put Baylor ahead for good. Isabella Harvison split sets with SMU's Hadley Poyle before clinching the match for the Bears. Danielle Tuhten's match remained unfinished, 4-6, 6-6(3-3).
The Bears return to action at the Hurd Tennis Center on Friday for a noon matchup with the No. 20 Oklahoma Sooners.
