
WT Signs Texas Tech Standout Cristina Tiglea

WACO, Texas -- The Baylor women's tennis team has added Texas Tech's Cristina Tiglea to the roster for the 2024-25 season, it was announced by head coach Joey Scrivano on Tuesday.
A native of Milan, Italy, Tiglea has been one of the nation's top players in 2023-24 and is currently sitting at No. 55 in the ITA singles rankings. Over her three seasons in Lubbock, Tiglea has posted 50 singles wins and combined for 62 doubles wins. She has played exclusively at the No. 1 spot in the lineup as a junior in 2024.
"We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Cristina to the Baylor family!," Scrivano said. "Her relentless drive, team-first mentality and exceptional character make her a perfect fit for our program. Cristina's incredible achievements and unwavering dedication on and off the court are truly inspiring. During her season, which just conclude in the NCAA Individual Championships in Stillwater, Okla., Tiglea has gone 19-9 in singles, including a 7-2 mark in Big 12 play. In doubles, she has posted a 24-9 record, including an 18-6 mark in dual-match play and a 10-2 record in Big 12 competition.
On court 1 in 2024, Tiglea – who was ranked as high as No. 39 in singles in 2024 and No. 24 in doubles in 2022 – owns a 13-6 mark. She is a first-team All-Big 12 selection in singles and was the position champion at No. 2 doubles in 2024. A two-time Big 12 Player of the Week in 2024, Tiglea has been a two-time doubles finalist in the ITA Texas Regionals and appeared in the Sweet 16 at the ITA Fall Nationals in doubles.
As a sophomore in 2022-23, she went 17-13 in singles and 23-12 in doubles, which followed a freshman season in 2021-22 that saw her go 14-7 in singles and earn 15 doubles wins. She finished her 2022-23 with a No. 81 doubles ranking by the ITA.
Tiglea attended high school in Milan at Istituo Caggiari and trained at the Quanta Club.
