WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis head coach Joey Scrivano added Na Dong, announced on Wednesday.
"We are incredibly excited to welcome Na Dong to the Baylor family," said Scrivano. "Her dedication, skill and achievements on the international stage speak volumes about her work ethic and perseverance. Na's addition will undoubtedly strengthen our team in both the singles and doubles lineups. Integrating new student-athletes requires adaptability and selflessness, and I see those qualities in Na Dong. We look forward to helping her grow both as a player and an individual at Baylor."
Dong is coming to Waco from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China.
"I am excited to join the Baylor family," said Dong. "Competing for a program like Baylor and receiving instruction from coaches like Coach Scrivano and Lenka will be invaluable to my future. I am deeply grateful for my family's support, especially my mom, who has always encouraged my tennis passion. I am ready to work hard and help the team succeed."
Dong boasts a career-high ITF singles ranking of 98 and 715 in the WTA, boosted by a semifinalist finish at the W15 Shenzhen and two quarterfinal appearances at the W40 Shenzhen and W15 Tianjin within the past year. She was also the singles champion at the ITA Guangzhou G3 juniors tournament.
In the fall of 2022, Dong paired up with Jennifer Luikham to win the Monastir W15 doubles title.
The graduate of Longxiang High School is the daughter of Juanjuan Tian and has a sister, Yuan Dong.
Dong joins the Bears after a 17-13 dual-match season that advanced to the NCAA Stanford Regional. 2024 marked the 18th NCAA Tournament appearance under Coach Scrivano, the program's all-time winningest coach.
