Bears tied for conference lead in Scholar-Athlete selections
WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis tied for the lead with seven ITA Scholar-Athlete selections among 2023-24 Big 12 member institutions, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Monday afternoon. In addition, the women's tennis program was recognized as an All-Academic Team.
Locked in at 7 total with Cincinnati, Texas Tech and West Virginia, BU's Danielle Tuhten, Isabella Harvison, Lindsay Patton, Miska Kadleckova, Sierra Berry, Zuzanna Frankowska and Zuzanna Kubacha received Scholar-Athlete nods.
The 2024 list marks the third appearance for Harvison and Kadleckova and the second for Berry, while all other Bears made their first career appearances.
To be an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least a 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in the current academic year while listed on the team's eligibility form.
With a combined GPA of 3.64 in the 2023-24 academic year, the Bears landed their eighth team selection in nine seasons and the 20th overall. In addition to collecting ITA All-Academic Team honors from 2016-22, BU achieved the feat from 1996-2000, 2007 and 2009-14.
To be named an All-Academic team, schools must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
In 2024, 1,573 Division I women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 255 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
