BALTIMORE – Baylor football sixth-year senior quarterback Dequan Finn has been named a candidate for the 2024 Golden Arm Award, as announced this week by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.
 
Finn, who is earning his third preseason watch list mention, is one of 63 of the nation's leading quarterbacks included on the candidate list. The preseason watch list, semifinalists, finalists and award recipient are selected by the distinguished Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers and former players. The award annually recognizes the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class.
 
The 2023 MAC Most Valuable Player, Finn led the league in passing efficiency (151.04), yards (2,657), touchdown passes (22) and total offense (247.7) a year ago. His 563 rushing yards were the most among MAC quarterbacks, as his dual-threat abilities landed him MAC West Offensive Player of the Week honors three times. He also earned his second-career all-conference accolade in 2023 and first as a first-team selection.
 
A native of Detroit, Finn comes to Baylor having played in 45 games over his collegiate career, including 32 starts. He has racked up 7,074 yards and 63 passing touchdowns, while rushing for another 1,840 yards in his career on 389 carries with 25 TDs. This is Finn's second-career mention on the Golden Arm Award watch list.
 
This year's Golden Arm Award winner will be presented at the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award celebration at the Four Season Hotel in Baltimore, Md., on December 6.
 
Additionally this week, Baylor redshirt junior defensive lineman Tonga Lolohea was named to the 2024 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award Watch List. Based on past performance and future potential, Lolohea is one of 96 players from 37 different FBS schools named to the watch list. He made 21 tackles, including a sack, in eight games for Tyler Junior College in 2023.
