THE RUNDOWN
WAIPAHU, Hawaii – Baylor defeated Hawaii, 1-0, Wednesday night at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium to open the Outrigger Invitational.
The Bears and Rainbow Wahine battled for much of the first half, with Hawaii getting off five shots to Baylor's four.
Goalkeeper Azul Alvarez was tested twice in goal in the first half, making two saves to keep Hawaii off of the board.
Theresa McCullough, Hannah Boughton and Hannah Augustyn accounted for the four Baylor shots in the first half, with McCullough and Boughton putting shots on goal in the 2nd and 19th minutes.
To start the second half, Marissa Gray lined up a shot in the 49th minute but a save kept the Bears off the board.
Sophomore forward, Callie Conrad gave the Bears the advantage in the 73rd minute when she found the back of the net with an assist from Tyler Isgrig.
The Bears continued to battle as Alvarez made five saves in goal in the second half, as Hawaii fired off nine shots, 14 total in the match.

Up next, the Bears will face Portland on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 5 p.m. CT to close out the Outrigger Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii.
