THE RUNDOWN
WAIPAHU, Hawaii – Baylor shut out Portland, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Stadium to close out the Outrigger Invitational and go 2-0 in the tournament.
The Bears and Pilots battled for most of the match with Baylor finding the advantage off of Callie Conrad's boot for the second-straight match. The sophomore lined up a shot off of a cross from Kai Hayes in the 44th minute to put the Bears out front.
In goal, goalkeeper Azul Alverez had an incredible game, making six saves, including a diving stop in the 52nd minute to keep Portland off the board.
Baylor totaled six shots in the game off the boots of five different Bears.
BU has won three-straight matches with its only loss of the season coming against No. 18 Mississippi State.
HIGHLIGHTS
Up next, the Bears return home to face the Texas A&M Aggies on Friday, Aug. 30, at 8 p.m. CT at Betty Lou Mays Field.
