
SB’s Govan, Coleman Named Preseason All-Big 12

IRVING, Texas – Baylor Softball's Shaylon Govan and Turiya Coleman were named to the 2025 Preseason All-Big 12 softball team, announced Friday by the conference office.
After ending last season as a unanimous first-team All-American by NFCA, Govan was the offensive weapon for the Bears last season, hitting .444 which tied for sixth-best in the nation. Govan totaled nine doubles and 11 home runs, while drawing 48 walks which led to a nation-leading .579 on-base percentage.
A second-team All-Region nominee last season, Coleman led Houston offensively while setting program records in batting average (.386) and on-base percentage (.483). As one of three players to play all 55 games for the Cougars last season, she tallied 14 multi-hit games and 13 multi-RBI games.
Picking up preseason honors, Govan was ranked the No. 9 player in the country and Coleman came in at No. 79 in D1Softball's Preseason D100 Player Rankings. Coleman also was ranked the No. 9 catcher in the country and Govan was ranked the No. 1 first baseman in the country by D1Softball.
This marks Govan and Coleman's second-straight All-Big 12 preseason honor of their careers.
The Bears will open their regular season on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., as they face ACU at the Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas.
