
SB’s Govan Named Preseason All-American by Softball America

WACO, Texas – Baylor softball's Shaylon Govan was named a Preseason first-team All-American by Softball America, the organization announced Tuesday.
The standout senior from Katy, Texas, has already picked up two preseason honors just a month out from the start of the 2025 season. Govan was ranked as the No. 11 player in the nation by Softball America on Monday morning.
After ending last season as a unanimous first-team All-American by NFCA, Govan was the offensive weapon for the Bears last season, hitting .444 which tied for sixth-best in the nation. Govan totaled nine doubles and 11 home runs, while drawing 48 walks which led to a nation-leading .579 on-base percentage.
Along with Govan, Dariana Orme was also ranked in the Softball America top-100 preseason players list, coming in at No. 96.
The Bears will open their regular season on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., as they face ACU at the Aggie Classic in College Station, Texas.
