Bears finish regular season with road victory at Oklahoma State
STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 23 Baylor soccer (12-3-3, 7-3-1 Big 12) closed out the regular season on a high note Thursday night, earning a 2-0 road victory over Oklahoma State (4-13-2, 0-10-1 Big 12) at Neal Patterson Stadium. With the win, the Bears secured their first victory over the Cowgirls with Michelle Lenard at the helm.
The Bears came out firing, as Theresa McCullough put the first shot on frame in just the second minute of play. BU continued to apply pressure early, earning three corner kicks within the opening eight minutes. In the 29th minute, Tyler Isgrig broke through on a set piece, finding the back of the net to give Baylor a 1-0 advantage.
Baylor's insurance goal came shortly after when Alysiah Lockette connected with Theresa McCullough in the 35th minute, as McCullough finished from inside the box to give BU a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
BU tallied 11 shots on goal for the night, the most in Big 12 play and second-highest total of the season, trailing only the 12 recorded against ACU earlier in the year.
On the defensive end, the Bears' backline recorded its 10th shutout of the season, while goalkeeper Azul Alvarez doubled her previous single-season best of five clean sheets. Alvarez was tested often throughout the night, registering eight saves, her second-highest total of the year behind her 10-save performance at TCU.
