Bears close out fall season in the Round of 32
ORLANDO, Fla. – Baylor women's tennis' Na Dong and Zuzanna Kubacha competed in the NCAA Individual singles and doubles competition on Wednesday at the UTSA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
THE RUNDOWN
Senior Dong started the day off for the Bears on Court Nine against North Carolina State's Gabriella Broadfoot. Dong dropped the first set 6-3. In the second set, Dong had the advantage 3-2 but could not close out the set. Dong lost the match 6-3, 7-5.
Junior Kubacha played on Court Five against Michigan's No. 3-seeded Piper Charney. In a back-and-forth first set, Kubacha wasn't able to come on top, dropping the set 6-4. In the second set, Kubacha made quick work, going up 4-2 in the set. However, Charney won the next three out of four games to tie the set 5-5. In the second set tiebreaker, Charney came out on top to win the match 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Ending the day in doubles, the pair of Dong and Kubacha met Ole Miss' Andrea Nova and Emily Welker on Court Five. In the first set, the pairs went back and forth with Nova and Welker winning the first set 6-4. In the second set, Dong and Kubacha were down 4-1 but closed the gap to 4-3; however, Nova and Welker won the set and match 6-4, 6-3.
