Baylor (5-6, 3-5 Big 12 Conference) owned a 17-14 lead at halftime but saw Arizona (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) zip past the Bears with the Cats taking a 21-17 lead in the third quarter.
The Bears had a chance to take the lead with 14 minutes left but an interception in the end zone thwarted the potential go-ahead drive and allowed the Cats to keep the lead. Even then, the Bears forced a missed field goal and took over with 10:46 left in the game with a chance to take the lead, trailing by four but a fumble on the first play from scrimmage resulted in a first-play 28-yard TD run for the Cats, who finished off the game with two straight TD drives and an interception returned for a TD.
Baylor wraps up the regular season schedule, playing host to Houston on Saturday.
Freshman tailback Caden Knighten had 17 carries for 100 yards to highlight the offensive attack. WR Josh Cameron had a TD grab over his six catches for 71 yards. TE Michael Trigg had seven catches for 45 yards.
QB Sawyer Robertson completed 22-of-33 passes for 162 yards and a TD, throwing a pair of second-half interceptions, including a pick-6 in the fourth quarter.
Arizona got a standout performance from WR Kris Hutson, who had nine catches for 133 yards and a score.
The Bears were limited to just 343 yards of total offense, with 181 yards rushing. Arizona totaled 355 yards, with 172 yards rushing and 183 yards passing.
Each team took its opening possession the distance for a TD, starting with a 75-yard drive on seven plays from the Bears, which featured a 30-yard gain from Robertson to Cameron on the first play from scrimmage of the game, and a nine-yard TD grab from Cameron for the game's first points.
Arizona answered with a 10-play, 75-yard drive that saw Kedrick Reescano punch it in from two yards out to even the game at 7-7 with 7:46 left in the first quarter.
Baylor then marched 75 yards on 17 plays, with Robertson pushing it in from two-yards out to put the Bears up 14-7 following the over seven-minute drive.
The Cats evened up the game in the second quarter with a 67-yard drive on 13 plays, with Noah Fifita connecting with Kris Hutson on a beautifully delivered two-yard TD strike.
After Baylor went 37 yards down the field and missed a field goal, the Bears came up with a turnover as DJ Coleman picked off a Fifita pass. The Bears went 30 yards on nine plays to take a 17-14 lead on a Connor Hawkins 48-yard field goal as time expired in the first half.
The Bears went for 208 yards in the first half, including 122 passing and 86 rushing. UofA had 155 yards, with 52 rushing and 103 passing.
Arizona marched down the field for a 75-yard scoring drive to open the second half, with Reescano rolling in from a yard out to put Arizona up 21-17.
Each team forced punts on the next four drives and Arizona forced an interception in its own endzone on a fourth-down try to thwart a potential go-ahead TD with 14:15 left in the fourth.
Baylor forced a missed field goal on the ensuing possession for the Wildcats and took over at its own 20 with 10:46 left, trailing by four. A fumble on the first play of the drive handed the Cats the ball back at the 28, and a TD rush put UofA up 28-17.
After Baylor couldn't convert a fourth down try, Arizona marked 32 yards on four plays to take a 34-17 lead with 6:38 left, with Reescano rumbling in from 19 yards out for his third TD of the game.
The Bears threw a first-play interception that was returned 34 yards by Jabari Mann for a TD to push the lead to 41-17.
