
Michael Trigg Named Finalist for Mackey Award

WACO, Texas -- Baylor senior Michael Trigg has been named one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation's top tight end, it was announced.
Trigg, a native of Tampa, Fla., is in the midst of a historic season for the Bears. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound product of Carrollwood Day High School ranks among the tops of NCAA tight ends in catches (third; 50), TDs (third; six), and receiving yards (second; 694).
He is joined as a finalist by Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq and Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers. Stowers leads the nation among TEs in yards (705) and Sadiq ranks tops among TEs in touchdowns (eight).
Trigg has rewritten the Baylor tight end record book, owning the program record for career (1,089) and season receiving yards, while ranking tops in program history in season TDs and season receptions. Trigg also ranks second in career receptions (80) and career TDs (nine).
Over his 21-game Baylor career, which includes 17 starts, Trigg has 80 catches for 1,089 yards and nine TDs. In his collegiate career, which included stops at USC and Ole Miss, Trigg has 108 catches for 1,418 yards and 14 TDs.
Baylor (5-6, 3-5 Big 12 Conference) takes on Houston (8-3, 5-3 Big 12) on Saturday at 11 a.m. on TNT, truTV and HBO Max, and on the Baylor Sports Media Network.
