BU’s Heffernan shoots a 1-under 70 to lead the Bears’ Cause
LA QUINTA, Calif. — Baylor men's golf shot a 6-over 290 to finish Monday in a tie for 17th after one round of the Prestige on the Norman Course at PGA West.
Baylor's Zach Heffernan led the charge for BU, shooting a 1-under 70 to tie for 24th place as the top-finishing Bear. Oregon's Aiden Kraft, North Carolina's David Ford and Kansas State's Kobe Valociek share the overnight lead with a trio of 5-under 66s.
The Bears are knotted with No. 15 Pepperdine and Oregon State and sit just six shots out of a three-way tie for 10th place.
THE RUNDOWN
Heffernan opened with a birdie at No. 1 and finished the front nine with a clean 1-under 34. The senior reached 3-under with an eagle at No. 12. A double-bogey at No. 13 dropped him back to 1-under, where he would finish after five more pars.

Over at the Prestige Individual Invite, Sam Dossey led the charge for BU on day one, shooting an even-par 72 to finish in ninth, while Martin Kemp was just a shot back at 1-over.
