THE RUNDOWN
GAME ONE
The Bears trailed for much of the game against the Nevada Wolf Pack, after a solo shot put them up in the top of the second inning.
Baylor got the run back when Carson Frier drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom half of the inning but that would be the only run to come across for the Bears in the inning.
Nevada re-gained the lead in the top of the third off of a sacrifice fly and a two-run homerun to go up 4-1.
Baylor cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fourth, when Shannon Vivoda roped a double down the left-field line to score Amber Toven.
It was Shaylon Govan who put the Bears within one run in the bottom, of the fifth when she hit her firs long-ball of the season to right field to make it a 4-3 game.
Coming in to pitch in the third inning, Lexie Warncke and the Baylor defense sat the Wolf Pack down in order in the fourth inning before Warncke struck out the side in the fifth inning.
Baylor not wanting to fall in the first game of the tournament scored the tying run in the bottom of the seventh inning after Brooklyn Carter led off the inning with a single and Govan brought her home with a single up the middle.
With extra inning rules placing a runner on second in the eighth the Bears erased the threat when she tried to steal third to get the first out before a fly out and fielder's choice ended Nevada's chance.
Baylor walked off the game in the bottom half of the inning when Vivoada and Jesen Vienne were hit by pitched in back-to-back at bats to load the bases with two outs. Faith Piper capitalized on a wild pitch and scored the game winning run for Baylor in the 5-4 win.
GAME TWO
In the Bears battle with No. 16 Nebraska, BU worked out of a jam in the first inning not allowing a run to score before Presleigh Pilon singled in the bottom half of the inning but that would be it for the Bears.
Nebraska took the 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo shot over the wall in left centerfield.
Bu turned its sixth double play of the season in the third inning when Toven connected with Abi Flores on a lineout.
Nebraska plated its second run, unearned, in the fourth inning to go up 2-0.
After sitting the Huskers down in order in the top of the fifth, Baylor loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning when Karynton Dawson reached on a fielding error, Toven walked and Averie Waddell reached on a fielder's choice but three-straight strikeouts ended the threat.
Nebraska added two runs to their total in the top of the sixth to give them the 4-0 lead with an inning and a half left to play.
The Bears scored their lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh after Waddell scored on a wild pitch, but the comeback bid fell short as the Huskers won, 4-1.
