
No. 23 WT Takes Down Iowa State, 4-1

AMES, Iowa – No. 23 Baylor women's tennis picked up a 4-1 victory against No. 53 Iowa State on Friday night at the Forker Courts.
The Bears (14-3, 5-2 Big 12) earned the doubles point and took Court Four before Iowa State (9-6, 3-4 Big 12) took Court Two. Bears responded by winning at Courts Five and Six to earn their 14th win of the season.
THE RUNDOWN
In doubles, the pair of Sierra Berry and Na Dong moved in swift fashion earning a dominant 6-0 victory on Court Two. The No. 24 duo of Liubov Kostenko and Cristina Tiglea earned a hard-fought dub on Court One, 7-5, to give the Bears its 11th doubles point of the season.
Moving into singles with the lead, No. 87 Dong kept the Bears rolling with a very dominant 6-0 first set. Dong kept her momentum in the second set to earn a, 6-0, 6-1, win on Court Four to move BU to be 2-0.
On Court Two, Kostenko put up a fight but was not able to come up with the victory dropping, 6-4, 7-6 (5), to the Cyclones Julia Camblor. However, Senior Kennedy Gibbs battled in a very back and forth contest to earn a, 7-6 (4), 6-3, win and extend Baylor's lead to 3-1.
With the Bears only needing one more point to clinch the dub, freshman Nanaka Sato won her first set 6-2 before falling in her second set, 3-6. In the third set, Sato was able to earn a Court Six dub, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, and clinched the win for the Bears, 4-1.

BU stays on the road and heads to Lawrence, Kan., to take on the Kansas Jayhawks at noon at the Jayhawk Tennis Center at Rock Chalk Park.
