
Third-Seeded EQ Falls Short in Heartbreaker to No. 2 Seed Oklahoma State

Bears outdone in final ride by Cowgirls
BURLESON, Texas – In a tight matchup, second-seed Oklahoma State beat third-seed Baylor equestrian, 11-9, in a Big 12 Championship semifinals meet on Friday at KSM Bear Creek Farms.
The ninth-ranked Bears (5-7, 2-4) were upended by the No. 5 Cowgirls (8-5, 3-3) in BU's first meet of the postseason.
THE RUNDOWN
In Reining, the Bears struggled to find their footing as OSU took the first three points of the event, with two 71's and a 69.33. Sadie Peters responded by earning her point for the Bears in a tight matchup, with Peters outscoring OSU 67.83-65.33. The Cowgirls then took the last point of the event in another close matchup with Emma Filiatreau's 70.5 beating Bella Hehr's 69.
In Flat, The Bears took the first two points as Lauren Stebbins and Madison Mitchell scored an 88 and an 83.67 respectively. The Cowgirls then immediately countered; outscoring Caroline Robelen's 71 with an 80. Lauren Reid came out on top in her matchup, beating OSU's Bella Holway 92-89.67. To conclude the event, Riley Hogan took the final point for the Cowgirls, beating Juliette Early 89-84.67. Going into the half, the Bears were down 6-4.
In Horsemanship, Bella D'Ofronio got the first point for the Cowgirls in a tight matchup against Baylor's Anna Thron, winning 74.83-72.83. The Bears then earned the next two points, with Alexis Rutledge's 75 and Nadalee Vasquez's 72.83. The Cowgirls then came out and earned the last two points of the event, with June Roberson's 75.83 beating Taylor Smith's 74.33 and Alana Stanton's 73.17 beating Carley Rutledge's 72.
Finishing the meet in Fences, Reid started strong earning an 84.33 to beat OSU's 79.67. Riley Hogan of OSU responded, earning the point for the Cowgirls and edging out Baylor's Lauren Jorgensen. The Bears then scored back-to-back points when Juliette Earley and Emma Covarrubias earned an 80.33 and 76.67 respectively to beat OSU's 76 and 75.67. Looking for the final point to tie the meet, Mitchell's 63.67 fell short of Emma Hechtman's 80, the Cowgirls finishing the meet on top, 11-9.
