
EQ Duo Named Big 12 Riders of the Month for February

Mitchell, Rutledge earn conference honors
WACO, Texas – Baylor Equestrian had two riders earn honors for the month of February by the Big 12, announced Thursday afternoon by the conference office.
Jumping Seat fifth year Madison Mitchell has been named Big 12 Fences Rider of the Month while Western senior Alexis Rutledge earned the title for Horsemanship.
This is Mitchell's third Big 12 monthly accolade of her career, and the first for Fences. This marks Rutledge's second Big 12 monthly honor.
Mitchell went 3-0 for the month of February in Fences, earning one MOP. Her average score across three meets was a 79.5, coupled with an average win margin of 4.6 points. Her 83.5 score against No. 7 Fresno State on February 7 was a season-high ride, earning her the MOP honor. The Clarkston, Mich., native helped the Bears win the Fences event in all three meets with her points.
In Horsemanship, Rutledge rode to a 3-0 record for the month, garnering one MOP. She earned an average score of 74.9 from the three meets and had an average win margin of 2.8 points against her opponents. She earned the MOP against No. 4 Oklahoma State, her second honor of the season at that point, with a 75.5 score on February 15. The Altoona, Iowa, native's three wins helped Baylor take the event win against both South Dakota State and Fresno State.
The Bears are on the road to Brookings, S.D., where South Dakota State is hosting BU and Minnesota Crookston for a tri-meet, taking place on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
