
No. 15 WT Sweeps Houston 4-0 to Close Out First Conference Road Trip

HOUSTON – No. 15 Baylor women's tennis team swept Houston, 4-0, to close out its first conference road trip of the season.
Earning their fifth sweep of the year, the third at 4-0, the Bears (12-2, 3-1) fought for the doubles point and collected singles wins on Four, Two and Three to secure the team victory against the Cougars (3-7, 0-4).
THE RUNDOWN
The duo of Kennedy Gibbs and Brooke Thompson garnered their second win of the dual-match slate with a, 6-3, Court Three dub. On Court Two, the No. 89 pair of Sierra Berry and Na Dong fell in a hard-fought battle, 7-5, to the Cougars' Gabriela Cortes and Sophie Schouten.
The doubles point came down to Court One, which saw the No. 14 team of Liubov Kostenko and Cristina Tiglea earn a, 6-4, victory, giving BU their ninth doubles point of the season.
Heading into singles up a point, Gibbs, in quick fashion, took Court Four, 6-2, 6-4. On Court Two, Kostenko battled Houston's Iva Sepa, 7-5, 6-4, to extend BU's lead.
No. 85 Na Dong closed out the match with a, 6-4, 6-3, victory on Court Three to give the Bears their 12th win of the season.
Nearing completion, Tiglea, on Court One, was in a highly contested match, but it was unfinished with the Cougars' No. 122 Santa Strombacha up 7-6 (3), 2-3. Freshman Wenfei Yu was up 7-5, 4-4 on Court Five, while freshman Nanaka Sato was up in the third set at 6-4, 5-7, 2-1 on Court Six before both contests were abandoned.
