WACO, Texas – Baylor Softball walked off ACU in run rule fashion, 11-0, Friday night at Getterman Stadium.
THE RUNDOWN
After allowing a leadoff single, starting pitcher
Lillie Walker struck out the side, two swinging and one looking to start the game.
In the bottom half of the inning, the Bears got on the board after a double from
Turiya Coleman and a fly out an error had her sliding into home safe.
Baylor tacked on two runs in each of the following three innings, starting with two runs in the second off of a single from
Amber Toven and a double from
Shannon Vivoda.
Abi Flores hit a two-run bomb in the bottom of the third, her third long ball of the season, to put the Bears up 5-0.
A hit by pitch, a single and a walk loaded the bases before
Shaylon Govan recorded a two-rbi sacrifice fly in the fourth to make it a 7-0 ballgame.
Holding the Wildcats scoreless through five a bases loaded jam in the fifth, Baylor was set up to try and put things away in run-rule fashion as they loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning. With the bases full of Bears and one-out,
Emry McDonough launched her first-career homerun, a grand slam, over the fence in right field to give Baylor the 11-0 lead and the walk-off run-rule victory over the Wildcats.
