WACO, Texas – No. 22 Baylor women's tennis will make its 26
th NCAA Tournament appearance after its selection as an at-large bid, announced by the selection committee on NCAA.com Monday.
In the NCAA Austin Regional, Baylor (20-5, 10-3 Big 12) will open up against Boise State (19-5, 7-3 Mountain West) on Friday, while on the opposite side of the bracket sees Grand Canyon (13-10, WAC) facing the hosting Texas Longhorns (16-10, 9-6 SEC). The winners will advance to the regional final on Saturday. All matches will be played at the Texas Tennis Center and match times are TBA.
Baylor is 39-21 all-time in the NCAA Tournament and is making its 19
th appearance under the direction of head coach
Joey Scrivano. The Bears' selection is the fifth straight for the program.
Last season in the NCAA Stanford Regional, the Bears fell 4-3 in the opening round to LSU in California.
The winner of the Austin region will face the winner of the Michigan region that features the Wolverines, Ole Miss, Arizona State and Youngstown State.
The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match will all be hosted by the Bears at the Hurd Tennis Center, May 15-18.
