
T&F’s Nathaniel Ezekiel Holds Strong on Bowerman Watch List

Senior remains as top-10 nominee on sixth watch list update
NEW ORLEANS – Nathaniel Ezekiel continues to represent Baylor track & field as he remains on the Bowerman Watch List for the fifth update in a row and named to the official post-outdoor conference watch list, as announced by the committee on Thursday afternoon.
The Bowerman debuted in 2009 and is named after former Oregon Head Coach Bill Bowerman and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female NCAA track & field athletes in the nation.
Ezekiel recently earned the Big 12 Outdoor Performer of the Year after claiming the honor earlier in the indoor season. Ezekiel is the first Baylor man to earn Performer of the Year for the outdoor season since Trayvon Bromell in 2015. Additionally, the Delta State, Nigeria, native is the first Big 12 male athlete since 2019 to earn Performer of the Year in both the indoor and outdoor season.
Ezekiel posted two different NCAA all-time historic performances in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship in Lawrence, Kan. He started his week by breaking his own Championship meet during the preliminary round (47.90) before he won the gold medal with a time of 47.89 seconds. Both times are now the seventh and eighth fastest times in NCAA history.
Joining Ezekiel on The Bowerman Watch List are Mykolas Alekna (California-Discus), Jordan Anthony (Arkansas-Sprints), James Corrigan (BYU- Mid-Distance/Steeple), Ishmael Kipkurui (New Mexico-Distance), Liam Murphy (Villanova- Mid-Distance/Distance), Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan (Ole Miss- Throws), Habtom Samuel (New Mexico- Distance), Ethan Strand (North Carolina- Mid-Distance/Distance) and Parker Wolfe (North Carolina- Distance).
The final Bowerman Watch List will be the post-NCAA prelims watch list on Thursday, June 5, followed by the semifinalists list announced on Thursday, June 26. The Bowerman Finalists will be revealed on Tuesday, July 1, while the winner will be officially announced at the yearly convention on Thursday, Dec. 18.
Ezekiel and the rest of the Bears will return to the track on Wednesday, May 28 when they take on the NCAA West Regional in College Station, Texas.
