Bears competing twice in-state in meets at UTA and A&M
WACO, Texas – Returning for his fifth year as Baylor's head cross country coach, David Barnett announced on Thursday a six-meet schedule for the 2025 season that includes a pair of in-state meets.
The Bears will open their season on Sept. 5 in the Gerald Richey/UTA Invitational at the Harold Patterson Sports Complex in Arlington, Texas.
Following a two-week break, Baylor will go out of state for the first time to compete in the prestigious Gans Creek Classic on Sept. 26 in Columbia, Mo. At last year's meet, then-freshman Ruth Kimeli became the first BU woman to earn a top-10 finish at the meet, placing eighth with a 6K time of 20:12.3.
In the final meet of an abbreviated regular season, the Bears will take the familiar trip down Highway 6 for Texas A&M's Arturo Barrios Invite on Oct. 31 in Bryan-College Station, Texas.
Postseason begins with the Big 12 Championship, hosted by the University of Kansas on Oct. 31 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan. Hosting the meet in Waco a year ago, the Baylor men and women both placed 13th.
Two weeks later, the Bears will head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 14 at Agri Park, trying to earn a spot in the NCAA Championship on Nov. 22 back at the Gans Creek Course in Columbia, Mo.
