Williams 50-plus yard punts snag his first Big 12 weekly honor
IRVING, Texas – For the second week in a row, Baylor football has claimed a Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honor with junior punter Palmer Williams being recognized for his Saturday's performance.
In BU's dominant 42-7 win over Samford, the Ray Guy Award Watch List recipient put up four punts for 194 yards. Of his four punts, two landed inside the 20 and two sailed for 50-plus yards, with a long of 59 yards, the longest punt Williams has sent since versus TCU last season (11/02/24). Williams averaged 48.5 yards per punt on Saturday.
Williams, a Preseason First-Team All-Big 12 nominee by Athlon and Phil Steele, has 31 career 50-plus yard punts and needs just two more to enter the top 10 in program history.
This is the first time since the 2019 season that the Bears have earned a Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
