
SB’s Piper Drives the Bears to a 6-3 Win over Sam Houston

The Bears have now won 14-straight against the Bearkats
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Baylor softball picked up a 6-3 road win over Sam Houston State on Wednesday night at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
BU improved to 12-4 on the season, and 7-3 on its 10-game road trip.
The Bears totaled 11 hits and featured timely hits throughout the lineup, while using nearly the entire pitching staff to limit Sam Houston to three runs.
RUNDOWN
Baylor struck first in the opening inning as Brooklyn Carter singled and later scored alongside Karynton Dawson on a two-run double by Faith Piper to give the Bears an early 2-0 lead.
Sam Houston answered with a run in the bottom of the first after Lexi Warncke allowed a lead-off double, the only hit she allowed in 3.2 innings of work.
Baylor tacked on in the fifth inning as Leah Cran doubled home Carter before Piper followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Bearkats closed the gap with two runs in the sixth, trimming Baylor's lead to 4-3, with the tying run on third base. Sadie Ross preserved the lead with her second strikeout of the frame to escape the jam.
The Bears responded immediately in the top of the seventh, plating two insurance runs, as Cran delivered an RBI double and Piper drove in her fourth run of the night on a fielder's choice.
Cambree Creager got the final two outs of the game, while Ross took home the save for her heroics in the sixth.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor returns home for a season-long seven-game homestand beginning with a double-header against McNeese State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Saturday is also Youth Teams Day. Kids 12 and under can purchase $3 tickets at the ticket window on game day, while Sunday's series finale is Dads & Daughters Day, where dads and daughters are invited to play catch in the outfield after the game.
