BU matches a season high six-game win streak
DELAND, Fla. – Baylor softball opened its stay in Florida with a dominat 9-1 win over Stetson on Wednesday night at Patricia Wilson Field.
Six of the Bears' nine starters reached base safely, leading to an offensive explosion of nine runs, while Sadie Ross put together her best outing of the year. The sophomore right hander scatted four hits in five innings of work, while striking out three.
RUNDOWN
Baylor wasted no time getting on the board in the first. Amber Toven doubled to left center before Karynton Dawson launched a two-run home run to straightaway center field, giving the Bears a quick 2-0 lead.
Stetson answered in the bottom of the second with a solo home run from Logan Forman, trimming the lead to 2-1.
The Bears broke the game open in the third inning with a five-run rally. Brooklyn Carter started the inning with a single and later scored on a groundout from Faith Piper. After Sa'Mya Jones worked a walk to load the bases, Kaygen Marshall delivered the biggest swing of the night, blasting a grand slam to center field to extend the Baylor lead to 7-1.
Baylor added two more runs in the fourth inning. Carter drew a walk and stole second before Toven walked to put two runners on. Dawson then reached on a throwing error that allowed both Carter and Toven to score, pushing the Bears' advantage to 9-1.
