
WT Picks Up Fourth Straight Big 12 Victory, Downs Kansas 4-1

WACO, Texas – No. 44 Baylor women's tennis defeated No. 63 Kansas, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at the Hurd Tennis Center.
The Bears (9-5, 5-1 Big 12) secured the doubles point before picking up singles victories from Na Dong, Alian Zack and Zuzanna Kubacha to clinch the Big 12 matchup against the Jayhawks (7-7, 3-2 Big 12). Baylor controlled much of the dual, winning three of the first four completed singles matches to seal the win.
THE RUNDOWN
Starting in doubles, Kansas struck first on Court Two as He Janse van Vuuren and Meg McCarty defeated Luna Ivkovic and Neda Rahimkhani, 6-4. Baylor answered on Court Three where Dong and Zack secured a 7-5 victory over Meriem Ben Ezzedine and Kyoka Kubo.
The doubles point came down to Court One, where Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas battled to a 7-5 win against Yerke Arystanbekova and Anna Putilina to give the Bears the early 1-0 lead.
In singles, No. 44 Dong quickly extended Baylor's advantage with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over No. 45 Kyoka Kubo on Court One. Zack followed with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 win over Meg McCarty on Court Four to put Baylor ahead 3-0.
Kansas got on the board on Court Five as Nahyeong Cho defeated Ivkovic, 6-3, 6-3. Kubacha sealed the match for Baylor with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over He Janse van Vuuren on Court Two, clinching the 4-1 result.
Mu-Jie Tzeng and Villegas both had matches in progress when the match was decided.

Baylor travels to the Little Apple to take on the Kansas State Wildcats on Friday, March 20, at 4 p.m.
