Bears drop 13-6 rubber match on the road
The Cowboys (16-8, 2-4) took the rubber match behind 12 hits offensively and 11 strikeouts on the mound, scoring all 13 of their runs across just three different frames. Though BU (12-11, 2-4) was able to tie things up in the fourth inning at 4-4, OSU pulled away with a five-run home half and another late four-spot.
Sanders was one of three Bears with multiple hits at the plate, joining freshman outfielder Brady Janusek and redshirt freshman infielder Brytton Clements. Junior catcher JJ Kennett also provided a two-run single, his first multi-RBI effort of the year.
THE RUNDOWN
Oklahoma State jumped on Baylor starter Ethan Calder right away for four runs in the bottom of the first on four-straight hits from its 3-4-5-6 hitters. But, Calder was able to settle in and put up back-to-back zeros in the second and third.
Sanders left the yard in the top of the third, a two-run shot that got BU on the board and cut the deficit in half. Then in the top of the fourth, Kennett delivered a game-tying two run single, but that proved to be as close as the Bears would get as the Cowboys countered with five runs of their own in the bottom of the inning to go back in front at 9-4.
OSU added on in the bottom of the sixth with four more runs on four hits, extending the lead to 13-4.
Baylor got two back in the top of the seventh on an RBI triple from Janusek, his third knock of the day, and an RBI groundout from redshirt senior first baseman Tyce Armstrong, his team-leading 29th RBI of the year.
