Bears to play 33 of 55 regular-season games at Baylor Ballpark
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball has revealed its complete 2027 schedule, as announced Thursday by fifth-year head coach Mitch Thompson.
The Bears will play 33 of their 55 regular-season games in Waco at Baylor Ballpark, including home conference series against Arizona, Kansas, Houston, Arizona State and Cincinnati. BU is also set to compete in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series as part of its non-conference slate, which features an additional three home series against Illinois-Chicago, Minnesota and Western Kentucky.
Not including its potential opponents at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series, Baylor will play a combined 20 games against seven NCAA Tournament teams in 2027 and face four conference champions from a year ago. Thirteen 30-game winners headline BU's upcoming campaign, including two squads that won 40 or more games last season. Notably, 38% of the Bears' 2027 slate features opponents that finished the 2026 season with a top-60 RPI.
Baylor is coming off a 29-27 campaign that saw the Bears finish eighth in the Big 12 with 14 league wins, their most since 2019. BU's offense mashed 60 home runs, the most in a single season since 2009 and eighth-most in program history, in addition to stealing 95 bases, the most in a single season since 2012 and ninth-most in program history. On the mound, Baylor allowed just 3.85 walks per nine, ranking inside the nation's top-50 with all three of its weekend starting pitchers ranking inside the top-10 in the conference in the metric. And, the Bears fielded at a .974 clip, their best in a single season since 2019.
To begin the 2027 season, Baylor welcomes UIC to Waco for a four-game weekend series that extends from Friday, Feb. 19's Opening Day affair through Monday, Feb. 22's series finale. This will be the first meeting between the Bears and the Flames since 2010, when BU swept UIC in a three-game set.
Then, Baylor hits the road for the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series tournament at Globe Life Field in Arlington, where the Bears will play three games on Feb. 26-28 against a stacked field of opponents which includes Arkansas, Iowa, Oregon, Oregon State and Big 12 rival Oklahoma State. Exact opponents and game times are still to be confirmed. Before returning to Waco, BU will also face UT Arlington at the home of the Texas Rangers on Tuesday, March 2, in its first midweek matchup of the year.
Baylor opens up a 12-game stretch at home with a weekend series against Minnesota on March 5-7, then plays host to Texas State (March 9), Western Kentucky (March 12-14) and Murray State (March 16) before Big 12 action begins on March 19-21 against Arizona. A Tuesday-night tilt against HCU (March 23) concludes the season-long homestand.
BU heads out to Lubbock for its first true road series of the year on March 25-27 to take on Texas Tech, then changes course for a midweek contest at Rice on March 30. The in-state bus trip concludes with a three-game set at TCU (April 2-4) to start the month of April.
UTSA comes to town on April 6 for the lone meeting between the Bears and the Roadrunners in 2027, igniting a five-game homestand wedged around a series with reigning Big 12 champion Kansas on April 9-11. Tarleton State closes out the stretch in Waco on April 13.
The Bears travel to Morgantown, W.Va., to face a West Virginia squad fresh off a trip to Omaha on April 16-18, then head back home for eight more games along the banks of the Brazos. A midweek matchup with UTA (April 20) starts the homestand, then games against Houston (April 23-25), Stephen F. Austin (April 27) and Arizona State (April 30-May 2) round out the eight-game span.
On May 4, BU returns the trip to Texas State for a Tuesday night tilt in San Marcos. Then, the Bears head out to Provo, Utah, to see BYU in a three-game set on May 6-8. Rice comes to Waco on May 11 to complete the home-and-home midweek series, then a final home series with Cincinnati (May 14-16) caps off the 2027 season at Baylor Ballpark.
Baylor takes on Tarleton State once more on May 18, this time in Stephenville, then flies out to Manhattan, Kan., for a regular-season finale series at Kansas State on May 20-22.
For the second year in a row, the 2027 Big 12 Baseball Tournament will be held on May 25-29 in Surprise, Ariz. NCAA Regionals will begin the first weekend of June, followed by Super Regionals and the 2027 College World Series, set for June 18-28 at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb.
New this season, Baylor will play its Tuesday and Friday night home games at 6 p.m., with Saturday contests to be played at 3 p.m. Sunday home games will remain at 1 p.m. along the banks of the Brazos.
