Bohannon, Omholt and White all connect with goals

WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer (4-1) cruised past Pepperdine (2-1-2), 3-1, on Sunday night at Betty Lou Mays Field.

Baylor wasted little time getting on the board, breaking through in the second minute when Grace White launched the second goal of her rookie season. Callie Conrad and Lauren Omholt picked up the assists, with Omholt earning her second assist of the year.

The Waves responded quickly in the sixth minute to tie up the match, as Julia Quinonez scored an unassisted goal.

The Bears' defense held firm the rest of the first half and kept the score tied 1-1 into the break.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Pepperdine's Emjae Soriano was shown a red card, confirmed by VAR, for denying a goal-scoring chance against Aryanna Jimison, giving Baylor a player advantage for the remainder of the match.

Baylor pulled away in the second half, with Omholt converting her third goal of the season off a headed assist from Theresa McCullough and Bohannon in the 71^st minute.

Fifteen minutes later, Bohannon earned her first career goal, finding the back of the net after Jimson's shot rebounded off the Waves' netminder, with McCullough picking up the secondary assist.

The Bears outshot the Waves 11-9 while ending in a dead-lock at four shots on goal each and holding off a Pepperdine attack that outnumbered BU in corner kicks, 6-1.

In goal for Baylor, Azul Alvarez earned three saves in the second half and only let one get past her.

Up next, Baylor is back on the road heading to LSU to face their fourth SEC foe of the season. The Bears and Tigers meet on Thursday, Sept. 3, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. live streamed on the SEC Network+.
