FB's Palmer Williams Named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Baylor football senior punter Palmer Williams has been named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the conference office.

In Saturday's win over Colorado, Williams punted a career-high seven times for 353 total yards, an average of 50.4 yards, with four of his boots going for 50+ yards including a long of 63. Additionally, four of his punts landed inside the 20 with an incredible three punts being downed inside the Buffs' 5-yard line. Williams had punts downed at the CU 2, CU 3, CU 5 and CU 10-yard lines on the day, helping Baylor constantly flip field position and pull out a 23-13 victory over the Buffaloes to start Big 12 play.

Through four games in 2026, Williams has punted 14 times for 709 total yards, an average of 50.6 yards, with eight of his boots going for 50+ yards. He now ranks tied for third in BU history with 47 career punts of over 50 yards and sits just three kicks shy of sole possession of second place. Williams' 47.02-yards per punt career average is the best in school history by nearly two full yards.

This award marks Baylor's 27^th Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week honor all-time and is BU's first weekly conference award of the 2026 season. Williams, a 2025 All-American, Ray Guy Award finalist and the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year, picks up the second weekly conference award of his illustrious career. He is the fourth Baylor punter all-time to win the award for a total of six times.
