2010 (Sophomore): Played in all 13 games as reserve defensive end as sophomore in 2010... Totaled eight tackles (four solo), two for loss of eight yards, one sack and one pass breakup... Had two tackles, one for loss of six yards and one PBU in season-opening win over Sam Houston State... Made one tackle, sack for -2 yards, in win over Buffalo in second game... Had two tackles in win over Kansas in fifth game... Did not record tackle over final six regular-season games... Made one assisted tackle in Texas Bowl vs. Illinois.

2009 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in five of 12 games as a reserve defensive lineman as redshirt freshman in 2009 to earn first letter... Totaled four tackles and one tackle-for-loss on season... Made collegiate debut as backup in win over Northwestern State in third game, made first two career tackles (season high) and career-first tackle-for-loss (-2 yards)... Also saw action at No. 19 Oklahoma (fifth game), vs. No. 14 Oklahoma State (seventh game), vs. No. 2 Texas (10th game) and at Texas A&M (11th game).

2008 (True Freshman): Sat out first season at Baylor and participated on practice squad, redshirted to retain eligibility.

High School:  Prepped at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas... Two-way starter earned 2007 first-team all-district honors as defensive end and runner-up in District 4-5A Defensive Player of Year voting... Also 2007 second-team all-district pick as an offensive tackle for Wolves... Registered 54 pancakes, 67 knockdowns and one touchdown on offensive side of ball in 2007... Also had 52 tackles in final prep season, including seven for loss, four sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries... Coached by Terry Cron at District 4-5A school.

Personal:  Son of Misti Smart and Loyd Edwards, Jared Loyd Edwards was born Jan. 3, 1990, in Tyler, Texas ... Older brother, Lonnie, is junior offensive lineman at Texas Tech... Majoring in general studies.
