Women's XC Shooting for No. 8 Head cross country and track and field coach Todd Harbour knows a thing or two about consistency. He helped lead the Baylor men's 4x400-meter relay team to 42 consecutive victories, including five consecuitive national championships in the event from 2007 into 2009. Meanwhile, another streak (which started in 2003 and is currently alive) will be on the line on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the NCAA Cross Country South Central Regional, hosted by Baylor at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. The current streak of seven straight appearances ranks sixth nationally among active streaks of continuous NCAA Championship participation. The Baylor women rank behind only Providence (21), Stanford (17), Arizona State (12), Michigan State (9) and Michigan (8). Unlike many other collegiate sports which feature 64 or more programs in NCAA Championship events, just 31 of the 331 women's cross country programs in the NCAA earn a berth into the championships. |
