The Baylor University athletic department is pleased to announce that a total of 54 student-athletes graduated during commencement ceremonies last Saturday in the Ferrell Center. In addition, 28 were awarded degrees in graduation ceremonies in December.
Baylor prides itself on its student-athlete graduation rate. Since the beginning of the Big 12 Conference in 1996, Baylor has led the league in student-athlete graduation for of the eight years, was second three times and third once. For the 2002-03 academic year, a school-record 104 Baylor student-athletes received diplomas. The previous high was 86 set in the 2001-02 academic year.
Since the NCAA began its annual graduation survey in 1996, Baylor has graduated at least 60 percent of its student-athletes every year.
"We are very proud of the academic performance of our student-athletes and it is gratifying that such a large number have earned their Baylor degree this year," said athletic director Ian McCaw.
