GOODWIN MR. PREZ - In an organized changing of the guard dictated by the recently revised constitution of the Baylor "B" Association, San Angelo attorney Ronnie Goodwin is the new president of the organization, effective Jan. 1. Another change in the by-laws involved increasing the organization's board of directors by three.

Goodwin, a 1961-1963 football letterman, also is a member of the Baylor Athletic Hall of Fame. Other officers include Lee Harrington of Kingsland, assistant director; David Lacy of Waco, president-elect; Dr. Milton E. Cunningham Jr. of Waco, vice president; Gary W. Luft of Waco, treasurer; and Knox Pittard of Bedford, immediate past-president.

The expanded board of directors is made up of Walter Abercrombie of Waco, Ben Baker of Dallas, Faith Beaty of Houston, Stacey Bowers of Hewitt, Rick Butler of Waco, Reich Chandler of Lufkin, Burl Coker of Waco, Clarence Dierking of Crawford, Jim Evans of Dallas, Thomas Everett of Dallas, Phyllis Gamble of Waco, Karen Aulenbacher-Heintz of The Woodlands, Jack Loftis of Houston, Bill Rogers of Carrollton and Pam Young of West.

Holding honorary positions are Dutch Schroeder of Waco, executive vice-president emeritus, and Bunk Bradley, executive director emeritus.

The always-efficient Reba Cooper of Waco continues in her role as administrative assistant.

GETTING AROUND - Guy Morriss, Baylor's new head football coach, will be introduced to followers of the Green and Gold in Houston, Dallas and Forth Worth in early February. Details are still being worked out, but it appears that Morriss will speak at a luncheon in Houston's Westin Galleria Hotel on Thursday, Feb. 6, and a yet-to-be determined location in The Woodlands that night. The next day he will address a luncheon crowd at the Doubletree Hotel in Dallas, followed by an appearance that evening at a still unannounced location in Fort Worth. Stay tuned for more specific information . . . And has anyone bothered to note that while Morriss, was lettering as a guard at TCU in 1970, 1971 and 1972, the Horned Frogs were 2-1 against the Bears? The two losses occurred during the Bill Beall regime at Baylor. With Grant Teaff taking over the BU coaching duties in 1972, Baylor defeated TCU 42-9. That same year Morriss made the All-Southwest Conference team before going on to an 18-year career in the National Football League, where he was an All-Pro player, appeared in two Super Bowls (with the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots) and coached for three seasons . .

MAKING THE CALLS - Morriss, a native of Colorado City, jumped into his new role at Baylor with an enthusiastic game plan. On his first day the new coach had the BU athletic department technical whizzes link him up by phone with season-ticket holders and members of the Baylor Bear Foundation. In case you missed it, his recorded message went like this: "Hi, this is Guy Morriss, the new head coach of the Baylor Bears. I'm very excited to be back home in the great state of Texas and even more excited to get started building a winner here at Baylor. The first step of winning is recruiting and my first recruiting call is to you. Your support of Baylor football is essential to me and my coaching staff, and more importantly, to the young men who will wear the Green and Gold. We need you on board. Thanks, and Sic 'em Bears." . . . Os Chrisman, the interim honcho of the Baylor Alumni Association, also has been on a public relations campaign. The retired Dallas district judge visited with Houston area BAA board members and while talking official business he also took the time to sound his support for Morriss. And as a former BU cheerleader from the Class of 1957, Chrisman could not refrain from bragging about the outstanding play of Tennessee Titans tackle Fred Miller, a former Bear. "In a recent Monday Night Football game against the New England Patriots nobody could stop him," Chrisman noted . . .
