Michael Collins is in his second year as assistant director of athletic media relations at Baylor, serving as the primary media contact for softball, soccer and cross country and serves as the managing editor of the football game program. During his time in the position, the 2005 Baylor softball media guide he produced was named fifth-best in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Prior to his arrival at Baylor, Collins worked as a sports information assistant at Kansas State University where he served as the primary media contact for cross country, track and field and rowing.
He also worked for two years in the Marshall University athletic department as a sports information graduate assistant while working toward a master's degree in journalism. While at Marshall, Collins served as the primary media contact for baseball, men's soccer and women's tennis.
A Lawrence, Kan., native and a 1999 graduate of Drake University with a degree in journalism, Collins also has served in public relations roles for the Eugene (Ore.) Symphony Association and Dynamac Corporation, an environmental firm based in Washington, D.C.
