As a four-time letterman and the heart of the Bears offensive line, offensive tackle Mark Adickes would enjoy great success both at Baylor and beyond. The 1983 consensus All-Southwest Conference and All-American Selection would help lead Baylor to a 7-4-1 record and a berth in the Bluebonnet Bowl. After graduating Baylor with a business degree, Adickes began his pro football career in the now defunct USFL for two seasons prior to finishing his career with the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins. As an NFL veteran, he would help lead the Redskins to the 1991 Super Bowl title. After retiring from the NFL in 1992, Adickes enrolled at George Mason University in order to take science courses that would make him eligible for medical school. Adickes determination ultimately paid off as he would attend the Harvard University Medical School. Adickes currently resides in Houston, Texas where he works as an orthopedic surgeon with Memorial Hermann's Roger Clemens Institute for Sports Medicine and Human Performance in the Houston Medical Center.
