Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning Shaun McPherson is in his ninth year at Baylor and his sixth season with the Lady Bears basketball team.

Prior to taking over the strength and conditioning duties for Lady Bear basketball during the summer of 2003, McPherson spent four seasons working with BU's men's and women's track and field program (2000-03). In addition to working with women's basketball, McPherson has also handled strength and conditioning duties for baseball (2000-07) and football (1999-2007). In 2007 he assumed the duties as strength and conditioning coach for Baylor's highly successful men's and women's tennis teams.

While baseball, women's basketball and women's tennis were under his direction, both squads made an impact on the national scene. Women's basketball won the 2005 NCAA championship, the 2005 baseball squad earned a College World Series berth and women's tennis made it to the 2008 NCAA Championship semifinals. Additionally, during his time at Baylor, McPherson has been a part of six regular season and three Big 12 Championship squads.

While at Baylor, McPherson has trained world class athletes including NCAA and Olympic track gold medalists Jeremy Wariner and Darold Williamson, WNBA All-Star Sophia Young, football's two-time Ray Guy award winner Daniel Sepulveda, current major league baseball starters David Murphy and Kelly Shoppach and current pro tennis player Zuzana Zemenova.

The North Carolina native came to Baylor in 1999 as a graduate assistant and was hired full-time in August 2001. He received his master of science in education from Baylor in 2001.

McPherson received his bachelor of arts in exercise and sport science from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1999. While at Carolina, he served as an undergraduate strength and conditioning coach. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and has completed requirements as a Level 1 Club Coach for USA Weightlifting. In addition, McPherson has had two articles published in Stack magazine, one on baseball speed development and another on basketball conditioning.

McPherson is a native of Whiteville, N.C., and is married to the former Rebecca Denham of Albuquerque, N.M.
