Food for Families

Baylor student-athletes have participated in the annual Food for Families drive for over ten years. Athletes from different sports unload trucks, sort food and lift packed boxes on to crates for delivery. The Army National Guard, KWTX, H-E-B and Boy Scouts of America sponsor the event, which benefits the Capital Area Food Bank, the Salvation Army and Caritas. Some of the collected food is stored, but the Salvation Army and Caritas distribute the majority to needy families across central Texas. In 2003, Baylor athletes helped Food for Families gather more than one million pounds of food.
