Russ Reneau is in his fourth year at Baylor as assistant director of media relations and internet coordinator. Beside managing all content on BaylorBears.com, he serves as the primary contact for volleyball, track and field, cross country and men's golf and the secondary contact for men's basketball. He will also return to the broadcast booth this season as the play-by-play voice for the Bears' road volleyball matches.
Last year, Reneau was honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America, as his Men's Golf Media Guide placed second nationally and first in District VI and the Women's Golf Media Guide placed fourth nationally and second in District VI. Also while at Baylor, he has been to the Women's Final Four, the College World Series and the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships in support of the media coverage of the Bears and covered the careers of Olympic gold medalists Jeremy Wariner and Darold Williamson. Reneau was the media coordinator as Baylor hosted the 2006 Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, provided support as Baylor hosted a 2005 NCAA Baseball Regional and was a scorer for the 2003 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship in Dallas.
Reneau returned to his alma mater after spending two years at Jacksonville University in Florida, where he served as the media contact for baseball, women's basketball and volleyball. On his watch, the Dolphins' baseball team captured the 2003 Atlantic Sun Conference championship as the lowest seed (No. 6) in the conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. Prior to Jacksonville, he was the media relations assistant at Rice University from 2000 to 2001, where he was the primary contact for soccer, swimming and cross country and helped host the 2001 NCAA Baseball Regional. Reneau was also sports copy editor at the Waco Tribune-Herald from 1998-2000.
While attending Baylor, Reneau was a regular play-by-play voice for Baylor baseball games on KWBU from 1996-98 and wrote for The Baylor Lariat. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism in 1998.
