- What Is counseling, and how can it help me?
- Counseling is a place for you to discuss your personal concerns in a confidential and non-judgmental setting. Professional counselors are trained to help you identify and change ways of thinking or behaving that are potentially contributing to your distress or impairing your functioning. Your counselor will help you develop problem solving, decision making and coping skills to help you adapt to or resolve life’s challenges.

An exception to confidentiality does exist if there is imminent risk to you the student-athlete, abuse of a vulnerable population is disclosed, or a court order subpoena is enforced.
Baylor Athletic Department and the National Collegiate Athletic Association takes the mental health of student-athletes very seriously. To be the best in sport, academics, and in life, student-athletes need to be physically and mentally well. The first step to improving your mental wellness is to understand it. The NCAA’s Sport Science Institute has provided important resources to help you as a student-athlete better understand your mental health. Their resources are tailored specifically to student-athlete mental health.
