Making a virtual counseling appointment is easy as 1, 2, 3!
ONE - Schedule your appointment!
You will need to choose your appointment type. It’s important that you choose the correct appointment type.
Initial Assessment – You have not been to a counseling appointment with Athletics Mental Health Services in the past. This will be your very first appointment.
Counseling Appointment – You have been to a counseling appointment with Athletics Mental Health Services before. You are coming back to counseling or you are scheduling your regular weekly session.
Consultation – You want to talk to a counselor to get some information. Examples of consultation appointment topics include things like: I want to help a friend. I am looking for a counselor in my hometown. I have a general question about mental health.
** Appointment times are only made in Central Standard Time! Please remember this if you are in a different time zone. **
TWO - Check your email!
You will receive three emails
- Confirmation email. Your appointment time and date will be included in this email. At the bottom of the email there is an option to cancel or reschedule should you need to do so.
- Instructional email. How to prepare for your virtual appointment. This email will provide you detailed instructions on how to access the virtual counseling room.
- Signature email. You will need to complete and sign a couple of intake and consent documents before your first virtual appointment. Even if you have had an in-person counseling appointment in the past, you will still need to complete the consent form which outlines how virtual appointments are different then in-person appointments.
THREE – Get ready for your appointment!
When it’s time for your appointment remember to find a place that is private, noise free and has good internet connection. You can use your phone or laptop, just make sure your camera and microphone work. Follow the steps in your instructional email to access the video call platform.
