Blaine Gautier Headshot

Blaine Gautier

Blaine Gautier came to Baylor and joined Dave Aranda's football staff as Associate Director of Player Personnel in April of 2022.

Previously, Gautier was an offensive analyst for Michigan State, starting in January 2022. He joined the Spartan staff after spending two years (2020-21) as the wide receivers coach at McNeese State.

The Edgard, Louisiana, native has National Championship experience, serving as an offensive analyst at LSU during the 2019 season. There, he was an assistant coach and worked primarily with the runningbacks.

Gautier secured his first on-field coaching role at McNeese State in 2020, but had to wait until the spring of 2021 before coaching a game due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the spring season in 2021, Gautier coached all-conference wideout Josh Matthews, who led the team in both receptions (32) and receiving yards (458), ranking second in the Southland Conference in both categories. He also ranked fourth in the league with four TD catches. Matthews also led the team in the fall of 2021 with 36 receptions for 463 yards and three TDs, while sophomore Pierce Mason led the Cowboys with five TD grabs as part of 30 receptions overall for 362 yards.

Prior to coaching at McNeese State, Gautier was at LSU for five seasons as an offensive analyst, including the National Championship team in 2019 that went a perfect 15-0.

Gautier was a former standout quarterback at Louisiana from 2009-12, throwing for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns, while rushing for 883 yards and 12 scores. Johnson served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Louisiana for Gautier’s final two seasons in Lafayette.

Gautier’s best season for the Cajuns came in 2011, under Johnson’s tutelage, when the junior set season records for pass yards (2,958), passing touchdowns (23), passing efficiency (153.6), total offense (3,444) and touchdowns responsible for (26). He set a single-game record with 492 yards of total offense vs. San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl while his 470 passing yards in that game ranks as the second-highest total in school history, three short of the record. He earned second-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a junior, along with first-team All-Louisiana and Louisiana Offensive Player of the Year accolades by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

At Lutcher High School in Louisiana, Gautier earned first-team all-state honors as a senior after throwing for 2,743 yards and 30 touchdowns and became the first-ever recipient of the Warrick Dunn Player of the Year Award, which is presented by WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge. He also earned all-state honors as a junior after passing for 2,785 yards and 31 touchdowns while leading his team to the Class 3A state title.

Gautier, who was born on Nov. 16, 1989, earned his degree from Louisiana in sports management.
