Ed Paris

Former LSU standout Ed Paris joined the Baylor Football staff as the Assistant Director of Player Personnel in 2024.

In this pivotal role—mirroring the thorough talent evaluation and recruitment methods of professional football—Paris leverages his expertise to assess talent, oversee comprehensive recruiting operations, and cultivate strategic relationships with prospects and their families.

At LSU, Paris played both cornerback and safety, contributing to 52 games over his career. Known for his versatility and physicality in the secondary, he graduated in 2018 with an interdisciplinary studies degree. Paris was instrumental in LSU’s victories in several bowl games, including the 2015 Texas Bowl, 2016 Citrus Bowl, 2017 Citrus Bowl, and the 2019 Fiesta Bowl.

A native of New Orleans who had to relocate due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Paris emerged as a consensus four-star prospect coming out of Mansfield Timberview High School (Texas) and was ranked as the No. 3 safety nationally in the Class of 2014. He earned honors as an Army All-American, underscoring his elite talent among high school players.

Following his college career, Paris briefly joined the New Orleans Saints in 2019, gaining professional experience during training camp.

Prior to joining Baylor, Paris served as a Defensive Assistant at Texas Southern University, where he specialized in developing the secondary and refining defensive strategies. During the 2022 season, he guided the defense to one of the top rankings in the SWAC, with standout performer Isaiah Hamilton earning SWAC All-American honors—a testament to Paris’ keen eye for talent and his ability to elevate player performance.

Paris is married to Courtney Rose Phillips, and they have a daughter, Trinity Rose Paris, born in October 2024.
