Edward Jones II joined the Baylor Family in January 2021. He serves as Assistant AD for Player Development under head coach Dave Aranda in the Baylor Football program.
Jones made the move to Waco following two seasons from 2019-20 under head coach Les Miles at Kansas where he served as Director of Player Development. Jones went to KU after three seasons (2016-18) at his alma mater, Houston, where he spent final two in the same role for the Cougars.
At Kansas, Jones was responsible for the overall development of the student-athletes in the football program. Jones continued to administer the Beyond The Field program, which he created at Houston, to provide programming for the football student-athletes. The programming focused on the personal wellness, community impact and career development of the student-athletes. He created the KU Football Player Committees: career development, community impact, player wellness and social action. The committees were responsible for many student-athlete initiatives in the program. The most notable was the creation of the Kansas Football Voting Initiative. Â
While at KU, he created strong relationships with the local school district, that opened doors to promote literacy, and create content testing and football education initiatives to create impact for the students. Jones also worked to create an externship program that allowed student-athletes to explore various careers. The program partnered with multiple companies featured in the Kansas City Business Journal.Â
At Houston, Jones created and oversaw the Beyond The Field program, which focused on the personal welfare, community impact and career development of the Houston football student-athletes. Jones assisted in creating relationships with many school districts and prominent businesses in Houston, which helped achieve his mission for the football student-athletes, which was to create generational impact.
In his first season at Houston, Jones served as the program’s Director of High School Relations and Player Development. Prior to joining the Houston football staff, Jones spent three seasons at Fort Bend Hightower High School, where he served as the Hurricanes’ wide receivers coach. While at Hightower, he was part of a staff that won three-straight district championships. In addition to Jones’ teaching and coaching duties, he also served as the program’s recruiting coordinator, academic coordinator, and social media director. In his role as recruiting coordinator, Jones helped over 50 players earn a scholarship to play college  football.Â
Prior to his time at Hightower, Jones spent three years at Cypress Lakes High School.
Jones and his wife, Lecretia, have two daughters, Ella and Lilia. Jones, who is a native Houstonian, graduated from the University of Houston in 2009.
