Jeff Grigus is in his second year as the Baylor football Chief of Staff, and his fourth season as a leading figure of the BU football program.
Grigus joined the Baylor Family in December 2021 as the Director of Football Operations. In January of 2023, he was promoted to Assistant AD for Football Operations. Grigus came to Waco following two seasons serving as the Director of Football Operations at LSU.
Grigus helped the Bears to a bevy of milestones in 2024, including the mid-camp transition of the program into the sparkling new Fudge Family Football Development Center, a nation-leading football specific facility on the banks of the Brazos River. Grigus spearheaded a move from the old facility, the Simpson Center to the Fudge Center in the dark of night after a fall camp scrimmage, allowing the coaches to go to a scrimmage on Saturday morning after working in their old offices, and return to the office on Sunday morning in a new state-of-the-art facility that he helped design.
Grigus oversaw the program in 2024 that featured head coach Dave Aranda owning the defensive play calling duties, while Aranda also coached the inside linebackers. The role Grigus played in helping lead the program while Aranda was able to focus on the defensive side of the ball, helped the Bears to a smooth season which featured an eight-win campaign and a berth in the Texas Bowl. BU finished the year on a six-game winning streak, the longest such streak in program history.
All while overseeing every aspect of the program, Grigus helped troubleshoot the move to the Fudge Center, helped manage the Bears as they transitioned into one of the nation’s leaders in the Name, Image, Likeness space, and captained a coaching and support staff unit that worked furiously to provide Aranda the ability to impact the defense daily.
Prior to 2020, he served as Assistant Director of Football Operations at LSU for three years under legendary Football Administrator, Dr. Sam Nader. During this tenure, in 2019, Grigus aided LSU as they won the SEC Championship, the College Football Playoff, and the 2019 NCAA Football National Championship.
From 2011 to 2017, Grigus rose in the ranks of the LSU Athletic Department as an Equipment Manager, assisting in a variety of sports including football, gymnastics, volleyball, women’s basketball, golf, and track & field.
Jeff graduated from LSU’s College of Engineering in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Construction Management with a minor in Technical Sales. He met his wife, Samantha, at LSU in 2013. They are married and two daughters, Mary Rose (two) and newborn Layla Ireland.
