Bo Els is in his first year as a Quality Control Coach for Baylor in 2026. He was announced on Jan. 9, 2026.
Els joins the Baylor coaching staff as the quality control coach working with safeties. He joins the Bears after spending the 2025 season as a graduate assistant working with the safeties at Missouri.
Els joined the Missouri staff after spending four seasons at Michigan State. He served as a graduate student coach with the defense from 2022-24, and worked with MSU’s quarterbacks and offense in 2021.
He had a decorated playing career as a two-time NAIA National Champion at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. A wide receiver and kickoff returner for Morningside, he started 35 games and helped the Mustangs to consecutive unbeaten title seasons. Over his last two seasons, he totaled 165 catches for 2,118 yards and 24 TDs. He led the NAIA nation with 95 catches as a senior, also pacing the nation with 17.5 yards per punt return that included two TDs.
He opened his coaching career the spring of his senior academic seasons at Morningside in 2020, working the receivers while he completed his degree in business finance with a 3.97 GPA. He earned the Dr. Tom Curry Business Award, given to the top business students at Morningside.
A former star athlete at Southwest High School in Lincoln, Neb., Els was the Male Athlete of the Year in each of his four years while playing football, basketball and track & field.
