Chad Klempnauer serves as Associate Athletics Director for Tailgating and Group Experiences within Baylor Athletics’ External Operations department, where he oversees tailgating operations, group experiences and fan upgrades, as well as athletics hospitality opportunities.
A familiar face returning to Baylor, Klempnauer rejoined the department in May 2026 after previously serving Baylor University from 2007-2021 in the marketing and fan engagement space.
Prior to his return, Klempnauer worked as a Regional Field Marketing Partner with Whataburger from 2022–2026. In that role, he led local store marketing efforts to drive sales and increase traffic, secured and activated community events, sponsorships, and partnerships, and collaborated closely with restaurant operations to align marketing strategy with business goals. He also coordinated promotions, in-store activations, and marketing materials, negotiated vendor and community agreements, and provided leadership with market insights, reporting, and strategic recommendations. His favorite aspect of the role was working alongside sports partners across Central Texas, including the Round Rock Express and collegiate partners such as Baylor, Texas, Texas A&M, and Texas State.
Klempnauer earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Baylor University in 2006.
